- Whom I represent: As someone who has lived as a destitute asylum seeker in Ireland for four years, many of my experiences are in no way unique: only my ability to communicate them. As one of very few indeed, if not the only applicant for asylum, who has both suffered all the flaws of Ireland's refugee system and who has the language skills to testify about it articulately, legislators and other responsible parties have a responsibility to hear my testimony: which so closely reflects the outlook of experts in human rights and refugee matters world wide. Who am I? - I am an American citizen, - a former elected official of the Democratic Party there, - a lifelong activist in community safety issues. Although I fulfil United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) criteria defining a political refugee, I have been refused asylum. Said refusal of asylum is directly attributable to the Irish asylum system's domination by the Ministry for Justice (i.e. law enforcement); and national law enforcement's close relationship with the CIA.
